When NFL players decided to start kneeling during the National Anthem, more than a few Americans abandoned the Sunday afternoon football ritual and found a lot of other things to do on a fall afternoon. As the NFL, and more importantly television advertisers, realized fans were leaving the sport in droves, the whole “protesting your own country” on national TV was given the boot. Fans came back, but perhaps with a little more trepidation this time around.
Sports are great. Whether you are playing or watching it is certainly a world-wide pastime. People like competition and sports give us that outlet. But over the years we have seen the pureness of our sports get caught up in the quagmire of politics. Super wealthy players, thinking they are somehow enlightened by their fame and fortune, decide they need to bestow divine guidance on their uneducated fans. And as they droll on endlessly with their nonsense, we look for better things to do with our afternoon.
This site isn’t intended to counter the pollical ramblings of the high and mighty sports stars. We’re just here to expose their true nature and make fun of them – relentlessly. There are some great people in professional sports. Men and women who do amazing things for their communities. We’ll take some jabs at them, too, but in good hearted fun. There is sincerity in the appreciation we have for the players who do the right things, and we’ll point those moments out as we go along.
So sit back, grab a beer and enjoy some much needed humor as we poke fun at the all-stars, dirtbags and dumb-asses and say “Sports? Who cares!”
