ESPN’s Le Batard Continues to Politicize Sports
Orlando Magic player Jonathan Isaac refused to kneel for the National Anthem because of his religious beliefs. Free speech wasn’t good enough for ESPN talking head Dan Le Batard, who has been a spearhead for the politicization of sports. Issac later tore his ACL, which seemed to be humorous for Le Batard, who then asked through a poll whether Issac’s ACL tear was funny.
Although Le Batard later apologized for the poll, why does the brass at ESPN think it is a good decision to run a poll like this? What if the roles were reversed? What if a player who knelt during the anthem tore an ACL in the game? If any sports announcer would have ran the same poll, with that fact pattern, they would be fired on the spot.
